GM's decision to remove CarPlay from its entire lineup is the clearest signal yet that automakers want to own the dashboard. Model how many OEMs follow that logic, and how SiriusXM positions before the hardware channel starts disappearing from new vehicles.
GM CEO Mary Barra confirmed in October 2025: every GM vehicle will eventually remove CarPlay and Android Auto, starting with the 2028 Cadillac Escalade IQ. GM's EVs have shipped without SiriusXM satellite hardware since 2023.
